Pear or teardrop shaped semi precious gemstone Polish Flint matched pair designer cabochons 31 mm by 22 mm and slightly domed on both sides. They are 6 mm thick.
These cabochons weigh about 29.5 carats each.
Polish Flint (or flintstone) is a semi precious gemstone variety of chalcedony.
What is rare in this gemstone cabochon material is the internal layering. This type of flint, called banded flint, only occurred in the Jurassic limestone in Poland (160 million years ago).
The irregular banding creates extremely picturesque internal structures making very special designer cabochons.
