Lion Skin Quartz cabochons are a mix of milky white quartz and chatoyant Tigereye.
Lion Skin Quartz is a mixture of golden Tigereye, which is a microcrystalline quartz (or in the chalcedony family), with a macrocrystalline quartz. Which makes for a beautiful golden yellow chatoyant semiprecious gemstone material that has a more 3 dimensional look and some translucent areas!
Contrary to popular opinion-this material is similar BUT NOT Nellite (Pietersite and Tigereye combination) from China, as it has more white and does not have the trademark blue.
Lion Skin Quartz is found in Namibia.
