Oval matched pair pink, yellow, and white striped semiprecious gemstone Candy Opal designer cabochons 21 mm by 13 mm and 3.5 mm thick.
These have a surface flaw a tiny rough spot (maybe a crystal pocket?) just above the red band on one stone.
These loose stones weigh approximately 6.5 carats each.
This colorful striped semiprecious stone is Candy Opal and it is found in western Utah, in the Thomas Mountain Range near the city of Milford.
It is also known as Bacon Opal, Bubble Opal, Halite Opal, Lace Opal and Wildfire Opal.
The name Opal comes from the Latin word opalus which means "precious stone".
Opal that is mostly opaque, with no play of color, is actually quite common. Opal is a hydrated silica material and it has a hardness of 5.5 to 6.5.
